Rapid Deployment Dry-Dock System

Scalable. Transportable. Mission-ready Maritime Infrastructure

The Challenge: Fixed Infrastructure in a Mobile World

Modern naval operations depend on speed, flexibility, and sustained readiness. Traditional dry-docks, even floating dry-docks are fixed assets, costly to build, slow to deploy, difficult to move and unavailable where they are often needed most.

In forward operating areas and emerging theaters, maintenance and repair operations are constrained by:

  • Lack of dry-dock infrastructure
  • Long construction timelines measured in months or years
  • Limited access to heavy lift equipment
  • Logistical complexity of transporting large, monolithic systems

The result is delayed maintenance, extended downtime, and reduced operational readiness

This system was designed to remove those constraints.

A New Capability: Modular, Rapid Deployment Dry-Dock

This is the first dry-dock system purpose built for rapid deployment, modular assembly, and scalable capacity. It delivers full dry-dock capability without permanent infrastructure, specialized port facilities, or extended construction timelines.

Key Capabilities

  • Rapid assembly and disassembly using toolless pin-and-socket connections
  • Modular cells and wing wall sections configurable to mission requirements
  • Scalable design adaptable to multiple vessel classes
  • Manufactured in days, not months or years
  • Operable by a two-person crew (in fully manual mode)

Designed for expeditionary use, this system enables dry-docking capability wherever the mission demands.

Designed for Strategic Mobility

Every component of thee dry-dock is engineered for efficient transportation by air, rail, or truck, enabling deployment into any military theater

Air Transport Compatibility

  • The system is fully compatible with strategic airlift and sealift platforms
  • Modules fit within the C-17 aircraft frames
  • Complete dry-dock system can be staged and rapidly deployed with current lift assets

Multi-modal Transport

Modules are equally suited for rail and truck transport, supporting flexible logistics planning.

Modular by Design. Scalable by Requirement.

The dry-dock is constructed from standardized  modular cells that enable rapid configuration, expansion, and redeployment.

Wing wall modules:

  • (10) modules at 40' x 10'  x  5'
  • (2) modules at 20' x 10' x 5'

Base Pontoon Modules

  • (13) base modules at 40' x 10' x 7'
  • (13) base modules at 20' x 10' x 7'
  • Standard width sections of 10 feet
  • Transportable and configurable, with dimensions adaptable to specification

Assembly and Disassembly

  • Toolleess pin-and-socket  connections between cells
  • Rapid assembly and disassembly

The system can be scaled to virtually any  required size or lifting capacity, including configurations beyond the depicted 1200-ton capability shown.

Efficient Operation with Minimal Personnel

Designed for simplicity, reliability, and minimal manpower

  • Rated lifting capacity: 1200 tons
  • Two person operation
  • Approximate cycle time: 15 minutes to raise; 15 minutes to lower

Ballasting and Control

  • Independent inlet valve for each cell
  • Valves operated from the top of the wing wall
  • Pumps approximately 7.5 horsepower per cell

Control systems may be configured as:

  • Fully mechanical
  • Computer-controlled
  • --Or hybrid configurations based  on operational preference

    Example Configuration

Here, the wing walls are offset inward by six inches per side to allow for outboard mounted plumbing systems. The resulting clean span between wing walls is 49 feet. Due to modular and scalable design of the dry-dock system, this configuration is not fixed. Additional modules may be integrated to widen the spacing between wing walls, allowing the system to be expanded  to accommodate larger vessels or evolving operational requirements.

Integrated Systems for Control, Stability, and Security

    Power Generation

    Power Generation

    • Generator module attaches to wing wall without tools
    • Mounted outboard to keep the deck clear
    • Standard output: 480V AC
    • Optional 240V AC and 120V AC accessory voltages available

    Mooring and Vessel Control

    • Modular cleats attach anywhere along the dock and are easily relocatable
    •  Eight standard 10,000 lb two-speed holding winches
    • Additional winches can be added or removed as required
    • Wing wall winches can be positioned anywhere along the top wing wall to create cinching points
    • Friction brakes and locking dogs to secure holding

    Stability and Positioning

    • Modular spud boxes and spuds attach a long the sides of the dry- dock
    • Independent hydraulic power supplies
    • Hydraulic winch-controlled raising and lowering of port and starboard spuds
    • Spuds and spud box locations are fully rearrangeable
    • Spud unit provides 40,000 lbs of pullout force

    Lighting

    • Modular lighting unit illuminates the deck for low visibility or night operations
